Little Bao Boy

Street food trader no more

Match made in heaven here. The story of how these two met involves fried chicken wings, an aggressive food review, tacos and an ice-cream truck – an incredibly entertaining story worth asking if you meet these founders.

Little Bao Boy was the best selling Deliveroo menu in Leeds in 2020 and having seen huge success in their own sites, we began working together and have since scaled to 100+ locations.

Founded by James Ooi, Little Bao Boy began life as a Leeds street food concept, quickly building a loyal following for its bold flavours and modern take on Taiwanese bao. As demand grew beyond its home city, the challenge became how to scale without losing the character and quality that defined the brand.

Partnering with Sessions enabled Little Bao Boy to expand into London through delivery kitchens, giving the brand immediate reach across the capital while keeping investment and risk low. This delivery-led growth proved demand, strengthened brand awareness, and laid the foundations for dine-in opportunities.

A notable early step was a London pop-up at The Sun and 13 Cantons, which marked the brand’s first dine-in appearance in the city. The success of the pop-up confirmed that Little Bao Boy’s audience extended beyond delivery and street food, and that its menu translated well to seated service.

Launching at the Roundhouse

Building on that momentum, Little Bao Boy launched at Roundhouse, one of London’s most iconic cultural destinations, for a short term popup. Operating from the Roundhouse Bar + Cafe, the brand served dine-in customers before and after shows, introducing its bao to a diverse audience of music and performance-goers. This marked Little Bao Boy’s second dine-in offer in the capital and its most high-profile physical location to date.

A Blueprint for Sustainable Growth

Little Bao Boy’s journey illustrates how a modern food brand can scale through a combination of delivery, pop-ups, and carefully chosen physical locations. By proving demand through delivery kitchens, testing concepts via pop-ups, and expanding into high-impact venues like Roundhouse and Boxhall City, the brand has built a strong London presence while maintaining flexibility.

For Sessions, Little Bao Boy represents a clear case study in how the right platform can help ambitious founders grow sustainably – meeting customers where they are, adapting formats to fit each stage of growth, and unlocking new opportunities without compromising the brand’s core identity.

Working with Sessions has been absolutely wicked. As founders they listen to our stories, uphold our brand guidelines to the highest regard and make sure all important decision making questions are signed off by us. I’ve never felt more comfortable sharing my brand with another company. We’ve formed friendships on a personal and business level.
