SESSIONS RECOMMENDS: ISLINGTON'S BOOK BAR WITH WINE

We catch up with Commercial Director, Catherine Ainsley, to talk through her favourite Wine/Book bar in London.

SESSIONS RECOMMENDS IS OUR WEEKLY SERIES WHERE WE SIT DOWN WITH A MEMBER OF OUR TEAM FOR A 5 MINUTE CHAT ABOUT THEIR CURRENT FAVOURITE RESTAURANTS.

Catherine

Catherine is our Commercial Director. On the host side she manages the sales team who bring on all partners in our network. On the other side - she looks after the brands in our network. She loves to travel, reading her way around the world - most of the time with a drink in hand.

WHERE ARE YOU EATING AT THE MOMENT?

A friend took me to the BookBar when they opened, just after the pandemic and I absolutely loved it. It's such a great concept - they have the best selection of books and wine and every month they pick a 'book of the month' recommendation that is often paired with a glass of wine. They have wine, beer, coffee, cocktails - whatever you fancy.

It's really colourful and so cozy inside as it's actually tiny! There are two floors so you can take your new book & wine to the downstairs seating area and stay for as long as you want. I am pretty sure I have dragged most of my pals to there at some point in the last couple of years.
They also do really great events, usually around a new book launch so the author comes down and the bar is open and you can just stay there all evening!

I'm think I have bought their Book & Drink gift card for most people I know so I can drag them there and then to some of the great places nearby.

TOP RECS FOR AFTER!...

WINE BAR: CUVEE

Opposite the BookBar is a Cuvee wine bar and shop so great if you want to pick up a bottle of wine to take home or onwards. This the place to go for natural wines and great snacks. You could be a wine buff or perhaps you don't know your Pinot from your Riesling but all the staff there will help you find the best bottle for you

Best Pub: Bank of Friendship

Honestly one of the cosiest pubs in London. They have a great beer selection and even better, you can get a Yard Sale Pizza to eat at the pub (order to table). They also have a massive garden for use in the summer.

Best Restaurant: Farang

One of the best Thai restaurants in London in my opinion! It is run by a Chef called Sebby Holmes and even though it started as a pop up they now have constantly changing tasting menus. They also have a little deli/shop where you can buy the ingredients to make the meals.

Best Brunch: Beam

This is actually a really good place to work from or for brunch with friends. They do amazingly good coffee and brunch plates such as stacked pancakes, Turkish eggs and breakfast burritos. Their breakfast cocktails are also to die for.
